Kara Northern Illinois University Finance Graduation Photos DeKalb

My brother’s girlfriend Kara was supposed to graduate from NIU this past May but her graduation was cancelled like most graduations this year. But just because the ceremony isn’t happening at all or the way you thought it was doesn't mean you can’t celebrate!

I love to add a little something fun when I can to sessions like the confetti popper or champagne. I honestly think having some sort of activity my clients can do WHILE I take their photos makes a huge difference. You don’t feel like you are posing and we can capture some genuine joy. Luckily Kara was up to add some fun stuff to her session to make it extra special!

So first up is the champagne. I asked when we got to their house if they had any cheap bottles we could pop. Kara goes to grab this big bottle and my brother hands her a smaller bottle to use. We head to the session and get ready to do a few photos. The champagne we are trying to spray all over is not doing much. I reassured Kara we still got some super cute photos and we decide to move on to the next part. As we are all about to drive off we find out that it wasn’t spraying because it was wine. face palm So far we are 0 and 1.

Next, I ask if Kara is cool to use this confetti popper I have had for a few years. We find the perfect lighting and my sister goes to video a little BTS video for me. We count to 3 and instead of the popper going everywhere like I had hoped it quickly goes to the side. Very anti climatic. Thankfully, everyone are troopers and help pick up the confetti to throw at Kara to get the look I was going for. Glad we could laugh our way through these little failures and still create some adorable photos :)

Congratulations Kara!! Not only on graduating but getting a full-time job. So proud of you!
