Arizona US Foods Scoop Magazine Spinach Shoot

Earlier this year in January, I had the opportunity to go to Yuma, Arizona to take photos of a spinach field for a spread in the US Foods exclusive Scoop Magazine. It sounded a bit odd when I told people I was going. They’d say “you’re going all the way out to Arizona to hang out in a spinach field?” You betcha! It was GORGEOUS. We woke up early to shoot the sunrise with the the field and came back just as it was setting for sunset. Another team, L37, came along to get some video. Their drone footage was incredible as you can imagine! I am so excited to finally share some of my favorite images I took that day along with the magazine spread with the photo the designer chose. It is always so awesome to see my work out in the world!

Funny thing about this trip is that we were flying to Yuma, Arizona which surprisingly has its own airport. I say surprisingly because if you have ever been to Yuma you know there is not much there. But it is close to California and warm so snowbirds come here! The designer working on this project came with. When we dropped the car off on our last morning we walk right into the only terminal of the airport and hangout at a restaurant right outside of security. Your literally didn’t go through security until you were about to walk out on the plane! It was the tiniest airport I have been to thus far. Yuma might not have a lot but it is so so beautiful. Not to mention the Star Wars Tattooine scenes were filmed in the dessert area nearby!
